About this role
This is a senior position for an experienced engineer who will be responsible for ensuring the airworthiness of one of the Australian Defence Force's (ADF) most important rotary-wing capabilities.
Key responsibilities
* Independently review and approve engineering artefacts and certification documents to ensure accuracy, traceability, and alignment with airworthiness and regulatory requirements.
* Lead by example by conducting high-level technical reviews and mentoring junior engineers in certification processes, structural analysis, and airworthiness fundamentals.
* Provide authoritative technical advice across aircraft structures, systems, and certification.
* Support aircraft certification as a project engineer, including managing dependent checking and technical oversight.
Required skills and qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will require:
* AQF Level 7 (Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent)
* Aeronautical design engineering experience with structural expertise
* Significant DASR Part 21J Compliance Verification experience
* Prior experience acting as a CVE within a Defence Aviation System Program Office
* Strong understanding of aircraft systems/subsystems and configuration management
* Demonstrated ability to manage competing tasks and deliver high-quality outcomes
* Strong knowledge of aircraft system safety and its role in complex systems
* Ability to mentor, review, and uplift the capability of junior engineers
