Position Title: EL1 Senior Business Analyst
Employment Type: Labour hire contract – approx. 16 months with potential to extend
Location: Canberra
Hourly Pay Rate: Rates negotiable dependent on skills and experience
Security Clearance / Requirements: Ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline clearance
Working Arrangements: Hybrid working arrangements available
ABOUT THE ROLE
Our client, a large Federal Government agency, is delivering multiple Tier 1 digital investment programs focused on modernising electoral and regulatory services. A key component of this transformation is a multi-year website modernisation initiative designed to uplift user experience, accessibility, security and platform sustainability.
The Senior Business Analyst will work closely with the Project Manager, Program leadership and a broad range of stakeholders to support the successful delivery of a new, modernised website. This role is well suited to an experienced BA with strong digital, user-centred design and agile delivery experience in complex environments.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Business Analysis, Research & Requirements
* Plan and deliver accurate, comprehensive and timely business analysis to support digital modernisation objectives
* Analyse data, documentation and current state processes to identify issues, assess options and contribute to future state solutions
* Develop high-level and detailed business requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria and supporting artefacts
User-Centred Design & Experience Mapping
* Develop user journeys, personas, service blueprints and experience maps
* Produce artefacts such as user stories, journey maps, jobs-to-be-done, personas, wireframes and functional specifications
Agile Delivery Support
* Work collaboratively with stakeholders, developers, testers and solution architects
* Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews and retrospectives
* Develop UAT plans and scripts and support business stakeholders through testing
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
* Build and maintain strong relationships across a geographically dispersed organisation
* Facilitate workshops, interviews and collaborative sessions to gather requirements and co-design solutions
Contribution to Project Outcomes & Team Culture
* Deliver work on time, within scope and aligned with quality, legislative and policy requirements
* Contribute positively to a high-performing, collaborative team environment
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Essential
* Minimum 5 years' experience as a Senior Business Analyst on digital projects
* Strong experience in website modernisation or digital transformation initiatives
* Excellent stakeholder engagement, facilitation and problem-solving skills
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Proven experience producing artefacts such as user journeys, process maps, user stories and test cases
* Experience working in multidisciplinary agile delivery teams
Desirable
* Tertiary qualifications in ICT, Business, Public Administration or a related field
* Experience delivering ICT projects in a government environment
* Experience working with vendors and systems integrators
* Strong technical and analytical capability relating to website redevelopment
* Demonstrated ability to work proactively while contributing to a positive team culture
ELIGIBILITY
Candidates must be Australian citizens and able to obtain and maintain a Baseline security clearance. A one-page pitch (maximum 5,000 characters) addressing the selection criteria will be required as part of the application process.
