Primary objective
To increase the accuracy of financial classifications through education and engagement with frontline and data quality staff with a focus
on improving the overall efficiency with which revenue is generated in Department of Health. The priority is NT wide hospital activity;
however, this role also supports primary health care where applicable.
Context statement
Health Service revenue is a core element of the financial sustainability of Department of Health. This revenue depends on the accurate
allocation of financial classifications for patient services. This task is distributed across most frontline areas of Health.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Establish and strengthen a Revenue Network in the Department of Health for the purpose of building awareness and ownership/
accountability of NT Health revenue streams (and related compliance).
2. Provide revenue education to frontline staff through orientation, team refreshers, and targeted training sessions in response to specific
problem areas or changes.
3. Regularly link with ABF and Data Quality staff for behind-the-scenes collaboration, targeted problem solving and process
improvements.
4. Build and maintain strong positive relationships with frontline staff and their managers across the Northern Territory for improved
understanding and accountability for accurate data necessary for revenue generation.
5. Work with external providers to refine, update and implement training materials to support revenue literacy and learning objectives in

1. Support the Financial Analyst with practical elements relating to the alignment of financial classifications across Radiology, Pathology
and Hospital activity to minimise risk and revenue/funding loss in relation to data matching.
7. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in
order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Ability to work independently to support the achievement of Department of Health Revenue operational and strategic objectives.
2. Demonstrated positive and productive relationship building skills and successful stakeholder collaboration and engagement.
1. Experience assessing learning needs and designing and delivering training to meet those needs.
2. Ability to use data to target and drive behaviour change (i.e. understand data and explain what it means to others).
3. Understanding and ability to apply change management principles in practice.
4. Ability to prioritise and handle multiple deliverables in a dynamic work environment.
5. Ability to travel to regional Department of Health sites by plane or vehicle where necessary.
6. High level communication skills, both written and verbal, across varied stakeholder groups, including an ability to interact effectively
with people from diverse cultures.
Desirable
1. Project management skills to organise the systematic achievement of goals involving the coordination of other people and resources.
