Primary objective
As a member of the primary school administration team, undertake administrative, financial, infrastructure and human
resource tasks as well as clerical /reception support in the busy and demanding environment of a large school.
Context statement
Tivendale Campus is the largest of five campuses of the Top End School of Flexible Learning and is located within the Darwin
Youth Detention Centre. The campus provides full-time comprehensive education programs to all students. Students at
Tivendale typically present with a diverse range of learning needs and may have experienced complex trauma. Students may
speak English as an additional language or dialect and range in age from 10-18 years of age.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Ensure timely and accurate management of school data and ensure cyclical maintenance of all manual and computerised
student records including data entry, data retrieval and report preparation.
1. Ensure a professional, personable and efficient approach to the management of systems and services to enable the school
objectives to be met effectively.
3. Provide administrative support to the staff, Leadership Team and Head of Campus.
1. Liaise and communicate efficiently and effectively with a wide range of people including staff, parents, community
members, school visitors and contractors, external stakeholders and the public.
5. Provide support for the overall financial functions of the school by supporting the Business Manager in all the tasks
associated with the school's finances.
6. Arrange urgent repairs and maintenance for school buildings, grounds and equipment using agency processes and
contractors.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Well-developed interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to communicate
professionally and effectively at all levels and with people from diverse backgrounds.
2. Proven successful experience in providing administrative support; with a high attention to detail, sound judgement, the
ability to maintain confidentiality and a clear understanding of the need for tact and diplomacy within a Youth Detention
Centre.
1. Demonstrated strong organisational and time management skills.
2. Demonstrated ability to prioritise tasks, work independently with minimal supervision and work under pressure.
3. High level of motivation and ability to monitor and meet changing priorities and deadlines.
4. Sound knowledge in computer systems, records management and major business systems, or the ability to obtain quickly.
