Our client, an established and growing financial services platform, is seeking a Legal Counsel to join their Australian team during an exciting period of expansion. In this role, you will work alongside the General Counsel to provide proactive and commercially sound advice to support the company's strategic priorities. You will work on financial regulatory matters, advise on new products and business lines, draft and negotiate commercial contracts, and contribute to board governance and company secretarial responsibilities. Collaboration will be key, as you work closely with teams across risk, compliance, product, operations, and marketing.
The ideal candidate is an in-house lawyer with 4–8 years' post-qualification experience, who brings a strong background in financial services, corporate, and commercial law. Experience with online trading platforms, investment products, crypto, or similar sectors is highly valued, as is direct experience engaging with regulators. You will be someone with excellent commercial judgment, able to confidently triage risk, and who thrives in a collaborative, proactive environment—comfortable working autonomously while building strong relationships across teams. Experience in a fintech or high-growth startup setting is a plus.
