About the role…

We're searching for a passionate and driven Assistant Buyer to join our Merchandise team as we look to excite our customers with our curated range of the worlds best Kitchenware products.

You'll support the Category Manager in the day to day management of our kitchenware range and assist in designing and executing a strategy to drive sales & profit through inventory management, product development and local purchasing.

You'll deliver administration support as well as provide insights, ideas & recommendations to the Buying team & wider business to drive action with support, direction and guidance from the Category Manager.

This role relies heavily on attention to detail, commercial outcomes, communication (both internal and external), influencing & negotiation skills and advanced computer skills.

Key Responsibilities

* Assisting the Category Manager in building and maintaining a merchandise range that's commercial, customer-centric, and ahead of the competition.
* Delivery of financial plans to achieve sales and profit targets.
* Effectively manage inventory and slow sellers.
* Juggle and manage a busy promotional and seasonal calendar.
* Conduct post-seasonal analysis and presentations.
* Collaborate closely with Planning, Replenishment, Marketing, Operations, and Online Teams.
* Sniff out market opportunities and keep the range reflective of changing trends and product advancements.
* Provide customer support through Stores & Customer Service with product information, range advice and training.

To succeed in the role you will have:

* Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
* Ability to establish, maintain, and manage professional internal and external stakeholder relationships.
* Good negotiation skills.
* Sharp quantitative and analytical skills with an eye for detail.
* Advanced computer skills, particularly in Excel.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to self-manage and meet deadlines.
* Skilled at multitasking and hands-on work.
* Strong problem-solving abilities and composure under pressure.
* Quick learner with a can-do attitude.
* Team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
* Minimum 2 years' experience in a Buying Office
