About The Role
In this role you will require knowledge and experience in the broad practice of Emergency Medicine, including Adult medicine, Paediatrics, Psychiatry, Trauma and Toxicology and the full range of emergencies encountered in various specialties. Under Barwon Health’s emergency model of care patients are streamed to dedicated assessment areas including fast track, adult, paediatric, resuscitation, trauma and mental health areas. Our mission is to improve access and patient flow to provide a sustainable service that ensures high quality, safe, people-focused care.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide direct patient care across all Emergency Department areas
* Lead clinical teams across General, Resuscitation, Short Stay, Fast Track and Children’s ED, with overall department oversight alongside the Nurse in Charge
* Deliver senior clinical support, including liaison with referring clinicians, paramedics and community providers, plus telehealth coordination
* Supervise ED staff, Short Stay Units and MHAOD Hub, ensuring safe, high-quality care
* Coordinate interhospital transfers, retrievals, and ED responses to disasters or mass casualty events
* Contribute to clinical education, research, quality improvement initiatives, and participate in the consultant roster including on-call duties
What We’re Looking For
* FACEM (or equivalent) with current AHPRA registration
* Proven experience in adult and paediatric emergency medicine
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to collaborate in multidisciplinary teams
* Highly organised with the ability to prioritise workload effectively
