**Unit 2 at Monash Health, Dandenong **is a 25 bed inpatient unit which sits within the Young Persons' Mental Health Service(YPMHS) The service provides youth aged from 16-25 years ,requiring mental health short term inpatient management and treatment during an acute or severe phase of mental illness,until management in the community is a safe option.unit 2 works closely with the Youth Consultation and Treatment Team (YCTT),Recovery and Prevention of Psychosis Team(RaPPT) and the Youth Prevention and Recovery Service (YPARCS).With the provision of a range of therapeutic interventions and strategies,both patients and families are able to learn about the impact of illness and explore ways to better manage within their environment with coping strategies as they move towards recovery
About the Role
Situated in Dandenong the unit serves a culturally diverse population.Social work in Mental health has a strong focus on the social context and social consequences of mental illness.Its purpose is to promote recovery,restore and maximise individual,family and community wellbeing,to enhance development of each individual's power and control over their lives ,and to advance principles of social justice which are fundamental to social work practice.
Intervention will occur at the interface between the individual and the environment and extend to the contexts of family,social networks,community and the broader society.The attributes,skills and knowledge that clinical Social workers bring to the inpatient unit include an understanding of the patient's environment ,relevant strengths and stresses,engaging family and carers,and connecting with local services and resources.
This holistic approach will target interventions to meet the needs of the individual and their support structure in a timely manner,contributing to better health outcomes.
The incumbent will achieve outcomes through consultation ,assessment,specialist intervention and an advisory role with the individual,carers/families and broader supports.This approach is crucial as social connectedness and communication skills determine community independence options.
**About You**
You are a social Work Grade 2 seeking a full-time permanent position.You are a dedicated clinician prepared to actively participate in the development of the Social Work program on Unit 2.You are capable of working as a member of the Multidisciplinary team and will be accountable for the provision of timely and effective social work services to consumers and their families and/or carers.
You Are Also:

What You Need:
- An Australian Association of Social Work(AASW) accredited Bachelor Degree oe entry level Master's Degree of Social Work that provides eligibility for ,membership of the AASW
- Demonstrated experience preferably in health care settings
- Current AHPRA registration
- Australian working rights
