About the Role

Echoes Cultural Heritage Management (ECHM) has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Archaeologist / Cultural Heritage Skilled to join our team in Perth. Our team has extensive knowledge and experience in both Aboriginal and Historical heritage management, and this role will suit someone who can both build on, and learn from, the diverse experience of our dynamic team.

We provide our clients with expertise in field surveys, heritage management, heritage assessments, impact assessments, excavation, salvage, and community consultation.

Role responsibilities: As an Archaeologist / Cultural Heritage Professional you will be responsible for undertaking heritage surveys and consultations in line with Scopes of Work, recording / assessing heritage places following a potentially diverse range of client requirements, liaising with clients and stakeholders while in the field, and managing other heritage consultants while in the field.
You will undertake desktop research required to familiarise yourself with existing understandings of heritage within relevant survey areas, be familiar with the State and Commonwealth heritage legislation, and record heritage values in line with the relevant legislation or agreement.
You will contribute to our high standard reporting, which is tailored to our client’s needs and expectations, while always consistent with our ethical responsibilities. You will have a well-developed ability for fostering positive relationships with clients and communities and demonstrate diligence and integrity.
You will report to, and be supported by, ECHM Senior Management and will be based in our Perth office. You will be working with a professional team of specialists, committed to delivering high quality work for diverse heritage projects around Western Australia.

Contract arrangements (i.e., casual, part-time or full-time) and remuneration will be negotiated based on candidates’ preference, knowledge, skills and experience.

What you will deliver

This position will require a person who:

- is an experienced Cultural Heritage Professional
- is motivated, enthusiastic and hardworking
- displays a high degree of responsibility and autonomy as well as an ability to work as part of a specialist team
- has practical experience in a consulting, or, similar heritage management role (minimum of 3 years’ experience)
- has a minimum of 2 years’ experience managing field teams within the Cultural Heritage sphere
- has exceptional time management and planning skills and ability to work to a budget
- demonstrates excellent communication skills and a high level of computer literacy
- a commitment to ethical work practices
- holds a minimum of an Honour’s degree or other postgraduate qualification in archaeology, cultural heritage management or allied discipline
- preferably holds a valid manual driver’s licence
- has experience in off-road four-wheel driving
- is based in, or prepared to relocate to, Perth on a permanent basis
- experience working with GIS platforms and spatial analysis will be favourably regarded
- Site-based work in regional and remote areas will be required on a regular basis
