About the role:
MSS Security is looking for Security Officers to work at University campuses in Newcastle area. The position has been created to identify suitable candidates to cross train and provide relief in two vital positions - Control Room Operator (CRO) and After Hours Duty Officer (AHDO). These roles require the successful candidate to have an ability to multitask, prioritise, comprehensive understanding of procedures and systems used, and approach delicate situations with empathy and maturity. This is in addition to the high standards of customer service that underpins our day to day interactions and operations.
Outside of the CRO and AHDO roles, successful applicants will be primarily responsible for providing security presence at the University and to provide excellent customer service to students, staff and visitors. Your duties will be, and not limited to:
* Conduct foot patrols of campuses - outdoors and indoors
* Ensure property is locked and unlocked as required
* Direct and help visitors and public to navigate around the campus
* Write reports in response to incidents
* Communicate calmly and clearly with key stakeholders
* Visitors sign in/induction and maintain key registers and issue key passes
About you:
This role is being offered on a relief roster across Newcastle based sites within the University domain. We are looking for:
* Certificate II in Security Operations and current First Aid certificate
* Current NSW Security licence
* Current Working with Children Check (paid)
* Dedication, reliability, and a commitment to security
* Physically fit and able to walk and stand for prolonged periods
* Excellent communication skills and ability to build rapport with approachability
* High level computer literacy skills
* The ability to work with minimal supervision and within a team environment
