Applications are invited from suitably qualified registrars for the position of Advanced Trainee in Anaesthetics - Retrieval Medicine with the Tamworth Retrieval Service (TRS). Successful candidates will provide direct or remote medical care to critically ill and injured adult and paediatric patients requiring medical retrieval from pre-hospital or health facility sites across northwest New South Wales. This is a highly collaborative, dynamic, and rewarding role emphasizing excellent communication skills and teamwork.

You will be responsible for arranging patient management in accordance with the best interests of the patient, both prior to and during transport. You will ensure an appropriate handover of patients transferred to another hospital and document relevant clinical information legibly, concisely, and accurately, as well as complete database entries in a timely manner.

Aviation and clinical currencies must be maintained to remain operational. You are encouraged to participate in training, teaching, and quality assurance programs as required by the Medical Director of Tamworth Retrieval Service. Bring to the attention of a supervisor any matter that may affect patient care or safety.

You will be required to consult with NSW Health and NSW Ambulance staff regarding patient management and transport issues, and communicate effectively with senior staff about clinical management. You will also use established telehealth capabilities to discuss critical care needs within NSW Health districts.

- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Late Stage Advanced Trainee or Fellowship qualification in Emergency Medicine, Anaesthesia, or Intensive Care.
- Ability to care competently for critically ill and injured patients in prehospital and interhospital environments with minimal resources.
- Ability to perform duties physically and psychologically in challenging environments.
- Adapt clinical practice safely to diverse environments.
- Superior communication skills, capable of concise, diplomatic, and effective communication with various professionals.
- Proven compliance with organizational policies, especially regarding clinical governance and safety.
- Ability to undertake and maintain aviation training, including HUET, winching, and other contracted requirements, and provide critical care via phone and telehealth across the district.
