**The Organisation**
This hospital is Tasmania's largest hospital and the major referral centre.
It provides acute, sub-acute, mental health, and aged care inpatient and ambulatory services to 249 000 people in the southern Tasmanian region.
The General Medicine department is the main inpatient medical unit and has 13 Staff Specialists.
On average, the department admits 15-20 patients over a 24-hour cycle, and in addition, there are admissions to subspecialty medicine teams, averaging a total of 20-25 admissions per day.
The teams are organised into 4 Medical Units; each unit has a Basic Training Registrar and Intern, and 2-3 consultants.
There are 8 Advanced Training positions in General Medicine, rotating through General Medicine and other sub-specialty positions such as stroke, respiratory medicine, cardiology, gastroenterology and nephrology.
**The Job**
- Work as a General Medicine Registrar and carry out day to day management of private and public inpatients and outpatients within the hospital
- You will attend specialist ward rounds, undertake procedures as required, and be involved in discharge planning
- You will provide after-hours cover as the leader of the acute medicine after-hours team, and short-term relief in other areas as required
- You will provide supervision of Residents, Interns and Medical Students
- You are expected to participate in educational activities, improvement initiatives and related training and the organisation’s Quality & Safety and Work Health & Safety processes
- There is strong support from the Consultant staff across the hospital, both in General Medicine and in the other sub-specialties
- You will rotate through the Medical Teams, evenings, weekends and nights, and there are options for secondment terms at regional facilities and rotations in Cardiology

**Requirements**:
- MBBS or equivalent
- Current registration with Medical Board of Australia
- Or eligibility for medical registration via the competent authority pathway
