We are seeking an experienced and proactive Equipment Hire Manager to oversee our equipment rental operations. This role requires a hands-on leader who can manage staff, maintain inventory, ensure safety compliance, and deliver outstanding customer experiences.
Key Responsibilities:

* Plan, organise, direct and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the equipment hire division to ensure equipment availability and efficient service delivery.
* Develop and implement operational procedures, inventory control systems, and asset management practices to maximise utilisation and profitability of hire equipment.
* Monitor equipment demand, analyse booking trends, and forecast future equipment requirements to support business growth and client needs.
* Coordinate the procurement, acquisition, replacement and disposal of hire equipment in accordance with operational requirements and budget considerations.
* Negotiate with suppliers, contractors and service providers regarding equipment purchases, servicing arrangements, repairs, transportation services and supply agreements.
* Establish and review hire pricing structures, rental terms, service agreements and equipment usage policies to ensure competitiveness and commercial viability.
* Maintain comprehensive asset registers and monitor equipment performance, utilisation rates, maintenance schedules and replacement cycles.
* Coordinate the scheduling, dispatch, collection, transportation and allocation of hire equipment for events and client bookings.
* Ensure all hire equipment complies with relevant safety requirements, industry standards, insurance obligations and regulatory requirements.
* Arrange and oversee equipment inspections, testing, servicing and maintenance programs to ensure equipment remains safe, functional and fit for hire.
* Liaise with event coordinators, clients, suppliers and external contractors to ensure equipment requirements are met within specified timeframes and project schedules.
* Monitor operational costs associated with equipment acquisition, maintenance, storage, transportation and servicing and identify opportunities for improved efficiency.
* Prepare management reports relating to equipment utilisation, inventory performance, maintenance expenditure, revenue generation and operational outcomes.
* Assess business opportunities for expansion of the hire inventory and recommend investment strategies based on market demand and commercial performance.
* Resolve operational issues relating to equipment availability, logistics, servicing requirements and client expectations to ensure continuity of service.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

* A Diploma or higher qualification in Business Management, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Event Management, or a related field; or
* At least 1 year of relevant full-time work experience in equipment hire operations, inventory management, event equipment rentals, logistics coordination, or a closely related field in lieu of formal qualifications.
* Demonstrated experience in equipment asset management, inventory control and operational planning.
* Strong commercial acumen with the ability to manage pricing, supplier negotiations and operational budgets.
* Sound understanding of workplace health and safety requirements and equipment maintenance practices.
* Excellent organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines and client requirements simultaneously.
* Strong customer service and stakeholder management skills.
