About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Network Engineer. This role is responsible for maintaining and optimising the organisation's network infrastructure to ensure high availability, performance, and security across all sites. You'll play a key role in supporting day-to-day operations while contributing to longer-term improvements and upgrades.
Key Responsibilities
* Configure, deploy, and manage network hardware including routers, switches, firewalls, and access points
* Implement and maintain network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF) to ensure reliable connectivity and performance
* Design and manage VLANs, subnetting, and IP address allocation
* Monitor network health, performance metrics, and availability using appropriate tools
* Perform routine network maintenance, firmware updates, and system patches
* Analyse and respond to system logs, alerts, and anomalies
* Troubleshoot and resolve connectivity issues and network faults
* Respond to and manage network outages and service disruptions in a timely manner
* Provide support and guidance to end-users and collaborate with other IT staff on cross‑functional projects
Skills & Experience
Essential:
* Demonstrated experience in configuring and managing enterprise network environments
* Strong understanding of Layer 2/3 networking, including BGP, OSPF, and TCP/IP
* Hands‑on experience with firewalls, switching, and wireless access point configuration
* Proficiency in VLAN management, subnetting, and IP planning
* Familiarity with network monitoring and diagnostic tools
* Excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to work under pressure during incidents
Desirable:
* Relevant certifications (e.g., Cisco CCNA/CCNP, CompTIA Network+, Juniper, etc.)
* Experience with cloud networking and/or SD‑WAN environments
* Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices as applied to networking
* Experience supporting multi‑site networks
