Employment Type: Temporary Full Time (contract until 30 June 2026). Location: Goulburn. Position Classification: Dependent Upon Qualifications. Remuneration: see below. Hours Per Week: 38. This position qualifies for the NSW Health Rural Incentive scheme with a value of up to $5,000.
Southern NSW Local Health District covers a large area of the southern half of NSW and includes 18 facilities serving more than 200,000 people. Our staff are a part of the local communities.
What You'll Be Doing
Youth Mental Health Initiative (YMHI) Senior Clinicians will provide trauma-informed, culturally safe, intensive therapeutic interventions and integrated psychosocial responses to young people experiencing complex and severe mental health concerns. They will also provide leadership, mentorship and supervision to ensure the delivery of strengths-based and recovery-oriented mental health care and treatment. The YMHI is a new service to improve early access to care for 12–25 year olds presenting to headspace services with severe and complex needs. The YMHI will enhance youth mental health supports in Southern NSW by improving integration across services. Senior clinicians will be part of the local SNSWLHD Community Mental Health teams, with time co-located within headspace centres, collaborating with partner agencies, developing streamlined referral pathways and ensuring timely transition of care between partner services.
Key responsibilities include collaborating with partner agencies, contributing to service development, and supporting the delivery of integrated care pathways for youth mental health.
Responsibilities (Selection Criteria)
Relevant tertiary qualifications and current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) for Registered Nurses, Occupational Therapists or Psychologists, or eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) for Social Workers. Experience in child and youth mental health is highly desirable.
Extensive post-graduate clinical experience and knowledge in evidence-based mental health assessment and treatment for young people and their carers; understanding trauma-informed care and its application.
Ability to apply advanced reasoning skills and independent professional judgement to manage complex clinical care and service delivery issues.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and within a multidisciplinary team to achieve service goals and improve consumer care and outcomes.
Effective interpersonal skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, and proficiency with information technology systems.
Ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes; lead ongoing quality improvement activities with staff.
Ability to provide clinical supervision and support to staff and students.
Evidence of a current unrestricted driver's licence and ability to drive/travel as required, including long distances and overnight stays.
Qualifications & Eligibility
Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident, or eligible to live and work in Australia by visa (temporary visa acceptable for application). Australian Work Rights information and links may be required.
Work rights and OASV (Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination) requirements as per NSW Health policy.
