Founded in 1980, Christian College Geelong is a K-12 school where academic achievement is balanced with care and concern for each student's character development and wellbeing, grounded in the Christian faith. We have five campuses across Geelong, the Bellarine Peninsula and Surf Coast region as well as a rural experience for Year 9 students at an expansive farm property in Scotsburn, near Ballarat, and a unique Art, Technology and Design campus for Senior School students in Waurn Ponds.

THE ROLE
Part-time (0.8) fixed term – 12 months commencing in January 2026
Christian College Geelong is seeking a committed and skilled Outdoor Education Assistant to join our Outdoor Education team. This role supports the planning, coordination and delivery of high-quality Outdoor Education programs that reflect our College's Christian ethos, focus on student growth, and commitment to safety and excellence.
The Outdoor Education Assistant plays an integral role in preparing and delivering outdoor learning experiences across the College. Working closely with the Director of Camps and Outdoor Experiences and teaching staff, the successful applicant will assist in the facilitation of bushwalking, canoeing, rock climbing, snorkelling, mountain biking, cross‑country skiing, surfing, and multi‑day camp programmes.
Attendance at camps and field components is a required part of this position. Camps and extended outdoor experiences may include early starts, late finishes, overnight supervision and multi‑day commitments.
Overtime and relevant allowances will be paid, in accordance with the Educational Services (Schools) General Staff Award 2020.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Participate as a group leader in all field components of the Outdoor Education programme.
Plan and organise key programmes in consultation with the Director, at least one year in advance.
Assist with the preparation, execution and review of programmes in line with risk‑management procedures and current professional standards.
Manage the issue, logging, maintenance and stock‑take of equipment, ensuring items are maintained, replaced and upgraded within budget.
Complete administration tasks before and after programmes to support the smooth functioning of the department.
Organise sessional staff in conjunction with faculty staff across campuses.
Administer first aid and prescription medications in line with established guidelines and maintain first aid kits.
Liaise with staff to maintain accurate records for emergency management.
Build positive, respectful rapport with students, staff and parents.
Support efficient and effective processes that assist teaching staff before, during and after programmes.
Perform other duties as required to support the effective operation of the Outdoor Education unit.

Wilderness First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
Light rigid licence
Experience driving with trailers
Community surf lifesaving certificate or similar water safety qualification
A current Working with Children Check.
Knowledge of outdoor education practices and safety standards.
Strong administrative and organisational skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to act with integrity, responsibility and professionalism at all times.
Initiative, problem‑solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Willingness to adapt, embrace change and strive for continuous improvement.
Practical knowledge of equipment maintenance and operational procedures.
