Become a Residential Youth Worker with Staff on Standby!

At Staff on Standby (SOS), we are dedicated to providing compassionate care and support to vulnerable youth. We are seeking passionate, resilient, and emotionally intelligent Youth Workers to join our team on a casual basis across the Gold Coast, Ipswich and Logan regions.
Key Responsibilities
As a Residential Youth Worker, you will play a key role in supporting young people in residential care and other settings, helping them build resilience, achieve their goals, and thrive. Working with young people who have moderate to high needs, you will:
* Foster a sense of safety and belonging in a stable environment.
* Build meaningful, positive relationships to support healing and growth.
* Encourage personal development and healthy decision-making.
* Support access to healthcare, education, and vocational pathways.
* Promote strong interpersonal and social skills.
* Maintain a clean, safe, and nurturing environment.
* Manage day-to-day tasks within residential care contexts.
* Complete detailed written and verbal reports.
* Support behaviour management strategies tailored to individual needs.
What We Are Looking For
This role requires someone calm, flexible, and creative, who can build trusting relationships. To excel, you will need:
* A solid understanding of the child protection system and trauma-informed care.
* Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
* Resilience and adaptability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
Mandatory Requirements:
* Blue Card (Working with Children Check).
* National Police Check (last 6months).
* Minimum completed Certificate IV level qualification in a Youth / Community Service related field or close to completion of a Degree qualification
* Hope and Healing Certification (or willingness to complete).
* Current First Aid & CPR Certification
* Valid Queensland Driver’s Licence, P2 or Higher
* Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including weekends, nights, and public holidays.
