Assistant Workshop Manager / Light Vehicle Mechanic – Tyres & 4WD Accessories

We are a well-established and growing tyre and 4WD accessories business looking to expand into light vehicle mechanical servicing and repairs. To support this growth, we are seeking a capable and motivated Assistant Workshop Manager / Light Vehicle Mechanic to play a key role in leading daily workshop operations and developing our new mechanical division.
This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys responsibility, and has the skills to manage workflow, people, and customer experience — not just turn spanners.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support the workshop in daily operations
* Job scheduling, and workshop efficiency
* Establish and grow our new light vehicle mechanical services
* Carry out servicing, repairs, diagnostics, and fault finding
* Tyre fitting, balancing, and wheel alignments
* Installation of 4WD accessories (suspension, bull bars, winches, snorkels, etc.)
* Job quoting, customer communication, and technical advice
* Maintain high safety, quality, and presentation standards
* Assist with staff training, mentoring, and performance development
About You
We are ideally seeking a qualified Light Vehicle Mechanic with strong leadership ability, however assistant workshop management experience is our top priority. We would prefer a strong leader with mechanical knowledge over a mechanic without leadership capability.
You will bring:
* Proven experience in workshop leadership or supervisory roles
* Strong organisational, communication, and people management skills
* Solid mechanical knowledge and diagnostic ability
* Tyre and wheel alignment experience (highly regarded)
* 4WD accessories fitting experience (highly regarded)
* A proactive, solutions-focused mindset
* High standards of workmanship, safety, and customer service
* Current manual driver’s licence
