Relationships Australia WA (RAWA) is seeking expressions of interest from suitably experienced non‐executive Directors to join its Board.
The Board is recruiting two Directors, with one appointment intended to assume the role of Board Chair, either on appointment or following an agreed transition period.
These appointments support the Board's responsibility to provide strong governance, strategic oversight and stewardship of the organisation in service of its purpose and beneficiaries.

Relationships Australia WA is a long‐established, respected not‐for‐profit organisation delivering relationship support, counselling and community services across Western Australia. RAWA forms part of the national Relationships Australia federation, contributing to a coordinated, values‐driven approach to service delivery across Australia.
RAWA delivers services through a combination of statewide and place‐based programs and works with individuals, families and communities to support safe, respectful and resilient relationships.

Board Roles and Responsibilities
Directors are expected to exercise independent judgement, contribute constructively to Board deliberations, and act as ambassadors for the organisation where appropriate.
Directors are collectively responsible for:
* Setting and monitoring strategic direction
* Overseeing financial sustainability, risk management and compliance
* Supporting and holding the Chief Executive Officer accountable
* Upholding strong governance practices in accordance with legal and ethical obligations
* Acting in the best interests of RAWA and its stakeholders
In addition to Director responsibilities, the Chair:
* Leads the Board to ensure its effective functioning
* Facilitates high‐quality governance discussions and decision‐making
* Builds a constructive, respectful relationship with the Chief Executive Officer
* Ensures appropriate information flow between management and the Board
* Leads Board evaluation, performance and succession processes
Skills, Experience and Attributes
The Board is seeking candidates who bring:
* Experience as a Board Chair, Deputy Chair or committee chair (highly regarded for the Chair appointment)
* Strong capability in one or more of the following areas:
o Financial oversight and sustainability
o Governance, risk and compliance
o Strategy and organisational performance
* Sound judgement, integrity and the ability to contribute effectively at a governance level
* Strong alignment with RAWA's purpose, values and the communities it serves
Consistent with good governance practice, RAWA seeks to maintain a diverse Board composition and encourages candidates who bring breadth to the Board's skills, experience, background and perspectives.
Time Commitment and Remuneration
* Board meetings are held bi‐monthly
* Directors serve on either the Finance or Governance Subcommittee, which meets 6 times a year to suit organisational requirements
* Additional strategic or executive sessions (1–2 annually)
* Directors are expected to be available for out‐of‐session matters as required
Directors receive remuneration in line with Relationships Australia entities nationally.

* Appointments are made following a merit‐based selection process, having regard to skills and experience required by the Board
* Balance of tenure and succession planning
* Organisational needs and strategic priorities
