The Role
The Guided Weapons and Explosive Ordnance (GWEO) Air Branch is seeking an APS 5 Logistics Officer to support the sustainment and delivery of air-launched guided weapons and explosive ordnance capabilities for the Australian Defence Force. As part of GWEO Air Branch, you'll contribute directly to the readiness, resilience, and performance of Air Force capability. This role offers the opportunity to apply your logistics expertise in a high tempo environment supporting some of the most advanced and strategically important weapon systems in Defence.
In this role, you will:
* Support complex logistics inventory, supply chain, and asset management activities essential to air delivered guided weapons
* Apply integrated logistics support (ILS) principles to improve sustainment outcomes across Air Branch programs
* Use risk management techniques to enhance safety, reliability, and operational readiness
* Assist with preparing and monitoring financial documentation, including budgets and forecasting
* Draft briefs, reports, and other documentation relating to logistics and sustainment management
* Contribute to the review and improvement of policies, procedures, and processes across the Branch
As a valued member of GWEO Air Branch, you will also:
* Collaborate closely with Air Force stakeholders, industry partners, and other Defence teams
* Balance competing priorities and manage logistics tasks in a dynamic operational environment
* Provide informed logistics and sustainment advice to support decision making
* Assist in the coordination and management of branch programs and projects
Note: This position will be required to access US export controlled materiel and therefore applicants will be requested to disclose any dual citizenship with another country during the recruitment process. Dual citizens may be subject to further assessment and appointment to this position will be conditional upon approval to access US controlled export material in accordance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
About our Team
GWEO is the newest Group in Defence and we are growing a team of dedicated employees performing activities such as requirements setting; contracting; procurement; international logistics; domestic manufacturing; item management and maintenance, and co-ordination of disposal.
GWEO Systems Division is responsible for the GWEO capability life cycle. This includes the acquisition, sustainment and disposal of all guided weapons and explosive ordnance for Defence.
The division is also responsible for:
* Maintenance of explosive ordnance
* Developing the Australian Defence Force Weapons Capability Roadmap
* Overseeing the remediation of GWEO preparedness
* Enabling capability elements.
Our team is made up of various disciplines (including engineering, project management, commercial, logistics, and business enabling services). We are located in several locations across ACT, NSW, VIC and QLD and our focus is to acquire and sustain guided weapons and munitions for the Australian Defence Force.
