Who is Harbison?
Harbison is a charitable, community-owned, not-for-profit organisation that provides residential and non-residential care and support services for aged or disabled people, including a range of support services and systems to assist aged and disabled people to achieve maximum independence and integration within a residential or community setting, education and training of professionals and other care providers, and activities which are incidental or conducive to these objectives.
Currently, Harbison is an approved aged care provider, registered NDIS provider, approved childcare provider, retirement village owner, and one of the largest employers in the Southern Highlands. Harbison is governed by a Board of Directors which appoints a Chief Executive Officer who is delegated with day-to-day responsibility for the organisation.
What is the Role?
The Intergenerational Officer will work to bring people of diverse generations together in an aged care setting. The role will focus on creating and facilitating opportunities for Harbison residents to build friendships and social connections with younger generations through mutually beneficial activities.
You Will Be Responsible For
Assisting the Activities Manager in liaising with the wider community to support intergenerational partnerships.Planning, facilitating and evaluating monthly activities that bring Harbison residents and younger generations together.Working closely with other Harbison teams for coordination, development and supervision of intergenerational activities, particularly the Grand Friends program, school visits and the Duke of Edinburgh program.Assisting with development of intergenerational support materials, such as training resources, presentations and marketing collateral.Practice holistic, high-quality, safe efficient and effective care, assisting residents to maintain their independence and dignity to meet their physical, emotional, spiritual and cultural needs.Collaborate with the Engagement team to ensure resident care plans are documented and regularly updated so individual needs are met, including facilitating meet-and-greets, attending case conferences and assisting with planned care days.Ensuring appropriate, regular, and timely communication with residents and their persons responsible about the intergenerational program, and assisting with development of strategies to encourage participation.Assisting with Playgroups and after-hours care as required.Communicating any concerns that may arise to the Clinical team.Assisting in feedback processes to identify opportunities for continuous improvement, including assisting with monthly consumer surveys.Carrying out all other reasonable duties within the overall function of the role.

What are we looking for?
Must hold Certificate IV in Leisure & Health or willing to obtain. Completion / attendance of mandatory training modules annually or as prescribed.Knowledge of intergenerational practice, or willingness to learn.Existing knowledge of dementia and behavioral management, or willingness to learn.Strong relationship-building skills, as well as interpersonal and communication skills.Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently as well as in a group environment.Confidence in public speaking and group leadership.Confident in the use of technology.Ability to adapt to a range of environmental circumstances.Commitment to continuous improvement.Must hold a current National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Worker Check.Must meet Child Protection Act requirements and hold a current NSW Working with Children Check clearance.
