KPMG Law’s highly regarded national team of Tax Dispute Resolution and Controversy specialists have extensive experience assisting organisations and individuals in preparing for, managing and resolving tax disputes, whilst maintaining an effective working relationship with revenue authorities. Our busy, dynamic and growing team are looking for lawyers who have experience in tax, tax law and tax disputes. Joining KPMG Law, you will have the opportunity to be a key part of our growing team – who advise a broad range of clients including large multinationals, the Top 5,000 taxpayer population, high‑wealth individuals and respected clients on the many domestic and cross‑border tax issues they are dealing with, in a rapidly changing world. The role will involve:
* Working with our clients in preparing for and resolving their risk reviews, audits and disputes with the ATO, AusIndustry and State/Territory revenue authorities, including working on complex ATO audits, preparing objections, briefing counsel and advising clients on ATO Risk Reviews, Audits, Independent Reviews and tax litigation.
* Developing written and oral advocacy skills and providing legal advice (including taxation law and administrative law) while working with a range of clients and specialists across KPMG Law and KPMG.
* Engaging nationally, often across all jurisdictions, with partners and team members from other states.
* Collaborating with specialist groups across KPMG’s Deals, Tax & Legal practice in Australia and internationally as part of many engagements.

Your Experience
* Previous experience in corporate tax, international tax, tax law and/or tax dispute resolution and controversy in either a Big 4 professional services firm, a law firm or the Australian Taxation Office, with prior Big 4 experience viewed favourably.
* Ability to quickly establish a high level of stakeholder engagement, and serve as an advisor to the business and be an expert on a topical area(s) of tax law.
* Ability to integrate information from a variety of different sources, consider the broader impact of issues, and assess how it will affect the project, engagement and the business.
* Strong interpersonal, influencing and project management skills, and the ability to motivate and work as part of a high‑performing team to achieve outcomes.
* Ability to enable career progression for high‑potential people by identifying development needs and providing guidance and knowledge to assist those people to further increase their skill set.
* Ability to lead on people initiatives, role‑modeling our values in all aspects of work.
* An honest and ethical approach to business, fitting with our values.
* Australian and/or other Commonwealth country legal experience.
