Position Overview
The Supervisor, Automation & Control Engineering is part of Alcon's Engineering function, focused on improving quality, processes, products, packaging, and materials across our business. This role leads a team in designing, developing, and maintaining instrument/electrical and automation control systems, applying control theory, analyzing system behaviour, and ensuring efficient task completion.
Responsibilities
* Oversee team members in designing, developing, implementing, operating, and maintaining control systems.
* Apply mathematical modeling, analyzing system behavior, and drive application of control theory.
* Ensure efficient task completion and adherence to processes.
* Make day‐to‐day decisions affecting team members.
* Foster a culture of excellence through performance management and talent development.
* Drive positive employee relations and enhance engagement and recognition.
* Ensure adherence to GxP regulations and Standard Operating Procedures.
* Maintain accurate documentation and rigorous quality control.
* Complete all required training and meet individual job requirements.
All associates must adhere to GxP regulations by strictly following Standard Operating Procedures, maintaining accurate and complete documentation, ensuring rigorous quality control, and completing all required training. Compliance with regulatory requirements and a commitment to continuous improvement are essential to our operations.
Minimum Requirements
* Demonstrated experience in the design and manufacture of precision part assemblies and/or equipment design (8+ years).
* Experience leading a team (2+ years) of diverse experience and skill levels. Ability to communicate cross‐functionally with key stakeholders across the business, including Production and Engineering, to dynamically prioritize and allocate tasks.
* A tertiary degree qualification in Engineering, preferably Mechanical or Engineering.
* Strong knowledge of GD&T.
Ideal Requirements
* Design or development of high‐precision optical, opto‐mechanical, or electronic equipment, tools, or products.
* Understanding of Verification and Validation processes under ISO13485.
* Understanding of machine safety code AS 4024.
Hybrid Role Note
This is a hybrid role with varied responsibilities, including team leadership, hardware design, and hands‐on station assembly.
