Job Opportunity: Senior Fire Protection Engineer – Canberra
WSP Canberra is seeking an experienced Senior Fire Protection Engineer to join our dynamic Building Services team. You’ll contribute to impactful projects across civic and public infrastructure, defence, commercial, and education sectors.

What You’ll Do
As a Senior Fire Protection Engineer, you will:
* Lead wet and dry fire protection design across small to medium‑scale projects, while contributing to larger multidisciplinary project teams.
* Ensure all engineering designs meet technical, regulatory, safety, and commercial requirements.
* Produce high‑quality, accurate, and compliant fire protection documentation.
* Collaborate effectively with clients, authorities, and internal project teams to drive project success.
* Build strong client relationships and identify opportunities to grow WSP’s presence in the Canberra market.
* Mentor and support junior engineers within the Property & Buildings team.
About You
* Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical, or similar) or equivalent industry experience.
* 6+ years’ experience in Australian building services, specifically in fire protection engineering.
* Detailed knowledge of relevant Codes and Standards (AS/NZS, NCC, etc.).
* Consulting engineering experience preferred; D&C contracting backgrounds also considered.
* Familiarity with BIM platforms (Revit, NavisWorks) is advantageous.
* Ability to work on projects requiring security clearance (citizenship preferred).
