Job Description
Join Thornton Engineering as a Machine Programmer – Structural, a key member of our Processing Team. This is a rare opportunity to work with one of Australia’s leading steel fabrication companies, delivering large-scale infrastructure and engineering projects across the country.
We are seeking a technically skilled and detail-oriented Machine Programmer to develop and implement CNC machine programs for our structural fabrication team. The successful candidate will be responsible for optimizing machine performance, ensuring program accuracy, and maintaining high-quality standards in a fast-paced production environment.
Responsibilities include:
* Programming CNC machines from technical drawings
* Creating efficient and error-free programs to minimize waste
* Providing loading and program lists to machine operators
* Assisting in troubleshooting machine faults and program errors
* Supporting data entry and job documentation
* Occasionally operating machines when required
* Collaborating with the broader production and processing team to ensure smooth operations
Qualifications
* Relevant trade or technical
qualifications
in CNC/machine programming
* Experience with CNC programming languages and structural materials
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Excellent communication and teamwork
* Ability to work independently and under pressure
* Experience in steel fabrication or heavy industry preferred
