About the role

Soil Conservation Service is seeking an enthusiastic Environment Officer to lead a small team delivering environmental and civil consulting projects, from planning and design to costing, delivery, and client and contractor management. Capability with supervising staff and contractors onsite with relevant trade, technical or project management experience onsite would be highly regarded.

The primary activity for these roles will be delivering natural area management programs, focusing on ground works. Our ideal candidate will have;

* Experience in surveys, inspections, planning, design and costing of soil and water conservation projects to achieve commercial outcomes.
* Experience in negotiating works contracts, providing maintenance advice, and building strong client and stakeholder relationships.
* Capability in planning and coordinating project schedules to meet time, cost, quality and scope requirements.
* Experience in preparing and maintaining project documentation and reporting in line with integrated management systems.
* Understanding of work health and safety procedures, including hazard identification, risk assessment, controls, monitoring and reporting.
* Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and guidelines to ensure regulatory compliance.

Highly Desirable Skills and Experience

* Supervise staff and contractors onsite with desirable trade, post-trade or tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent relevant working experience in project management, building, construction, earthmoving, environment and engineering.
* Experience in coordinating plant operations and supervising construction works to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.

Essential Requirements

* Practical working knowledge in the design and implementation of soil and water conservation projects or similar, and understanding of environmental principles and legislation.
* Sound knowledge and experience using software that includes Microsoft (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and project management system/s.
* Current C Class Driver's Licence and willingness to travel within the region.

The role based in Tumut involves the management of quarry operations, including induction, inspection, and supervision of all quarrying activities.

Our ideal candidate will have experience in quarry management and demonstrate the capability to obtain a Quarry Manager Practising Certificate through the NSW Resources Regulator once the required on-site period has been completed.
