About the Role
Mater is currently accepting applications for the Manager of Central Staffing position. Reporting to the Director Recruitment Workforce Planning & Analytics, this full-time, permanent role is based at our South Brisbane campus.
The Manager, Central Staffing Office (CSO), plays a key leadership role in developing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating Mater Health's Nursing and Midwifery Relief Workforce. Collaborating with Nursing and Midwifery Managers, this position combines strategic oversight with operational responsibilities to ensure safe, appropriate, cost-effective, and timely staffing across all clinical areas, delivering high-quality patient care around the clock.
Key Responsibilities
1. Workforce Planning: Drive innovative workforce models that align staffing with patient care needs, ensure optimal shift coverage, and embed sustainable rostering practices.
2. Clinical Leadership: Provide strategic and operational leadership, foster a collaborative team culture, and contribute to safe, person-centred care.
3. Quality & Safety: Manage risks, ensure compliance with standards, and promote continuous improvement initiatives.
4. Financial & Resource Management: Oversee workforce budgets and resource allocation to support efficient service delivery and financial outcomes.
5. Compliance & Quality Assurance: Implement SLAs and KPIs to ensure accountability.
6. Stakeholder Management: Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including nursing agencies, for seamless service delivery.
7. Workforce Management System (ShiftMatch): Oversee the system's operational management, reporting, analytics, and stakeholder engagement.
8. Professional Growth & Research: Support staff development and promote evidence-based practice and research.
9. Communication & Accountability: Foster open communication and uphold a culture of transparency and excellence.
About You
You will have current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and tertiary qualifications in health administration, management, clinical leadership, or related fields. You should also meet the following criteria:
* At least five years of full-time experience in a clinical specialty, including leadership roles.
* Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
* Extensive leadership experience within a complex hospital environment.
* Experience in workforce planning and understanding of related practices (highly desirable).
* Ability to interpret and analyze workforce data (highly desirable).
* Experience managing workforce solutions like ShiftMatch (highly desirable).
* Knowledge of performance measures, SLAs, and KPIs (desirable).
