At our renowned Riverina Cancer Care Centre in Wagga Wagga, we are seeking a dedicated full-time Oncology Pharmacist to join our team and support the delivery of high-quality cancer care to the local community.
Reporting to the Head of Pharmacy, the successful candidate will be appointed as a Grade 1 or Grade 2 Oncology Pharmacist, depending on experience. The role is full-time, working Monday to Friday with rotating shifts of 7:30am to 4:30pm and 8:00am to 5:00pm, with one RDO per fortnight.
What Is Involved
In this role you will:
Clinically review patients and their Oncology treatment protocolsDispense cytotoxic and non-cytotoxic medications in accordance with PBS regulationsComplete medication reconciliation processesProvide medication education and counselling to patients and their familiesSupport coordination of clinical trials and compassionate access programsParticipate in clinical research activities and oncology antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) programsAttend Site Selection Visits (SSVs) and Site Initiation Visits (SIVs)Review and adhere to clinical trial protocols relating to investigational products, compounding and accountabilityContribute to quality assurance and continuous improvement initiativesWork closely with oncologists and the broader multidisciplinary teamAssist with pharmacy stock control and inventory managementRead, understand, review, and adhere to clinical trial protocols relating to investigational product (IP) compounding (where applicable), IP accountability, standard operating procedures, and reporting of the Pharmacy’s role in clinical trials
What You Will Bring
Bachelor of Pharmacy or higher qualificationCurrent registration as a Pharmacist with AHPRA and the Pharmacy Board of AustraliaProfessional indemnity insuranceA strong patient-first mindset and commitment to quality careExcellent time management skills with the ability to manage competing prioritiesHigh attention to detail and strong problem solving capabilityAbility to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary clinical environmentStrong communication and interpersonal skillsHighly enthusiastic, motivated, and quick to adapt in a supportive environmentOncology/hospital Pharmacy experience is highly regarded but not essential
