Responsibilities
* Implements and supports project HSE plans, regulatory requirements, and other safe work practices.
* Identifies, evaluates, develops and delivers project specific HSE training.
* Implements district HSE communication strategies on projects.
* Recognizes, evaluates, and advises on hazard identification.
* Leads and conducts project HSE inspections and monitors the quality and effectiveness of inspections and trade safety plans.
* Develops and evaluates efficiency of the project emergency response plan, site-specific security requirements and the environmental plan.
* Monitors and audits trade contractor HSE performance.
* Participates in on-site investigative processes and evaluating corrective actions taken.
* Develops and maintains positive relationships with all stakeholders.
* Coaches, trains and mentors HSE Coordinators and other employees.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
* Holds safety designation.
* 5 years’ experience in a health and safety role in a related industry. Previous experience in a supervisory role an asset.
* Solid understanding of applicable OH&S and environmental legislation and HSE processes.
* Conflict resolution skills, with the ability to problem-solve.
* Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
* Ability to develop, influence, and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
* Strong working knowledge of construction processes and terminology.
* Solid understanding of Microsoft Office Suite with a strong aptitude for adopting new technology.
