About the role
We're looking for a dedicated Orderly to join our team and play a vital role in supporting our theatres, ensuring the smooth day‐to‐day operations of our hospital. This is a casual position, however for the right experienced candidate, we may consider permanent part-time employment. You'll work an average of 24 hours per week, with our theatres operating Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM, and occasional theatre lists on Saturdays.
Mater Bundaberg is a 59‐bed facility comprising both surgical and medical/rehabilitation units. Our surgical ward manages a diverse range of cases and our medical/rehabilitation wards support patients across the acute and sub‐acute spectrum, providing comprehensive, tailored care.
As a valued member of our Clinical Assistance Team, you'll support patient wellbeing, ensure smooth hospital operations, and uphold our commitment to excellence and safety.
* Safely transfer, transport, and assist patients with dignity and respect.
* Position patients in beds, wheelchairs, and trolleys following safe handling practices.
* Efficiently relocate equipment, furniture, and essential items between departments.
* Courier medications, specimens, and documentation as required.
* Assist with cleaning, linen organisation, restocking, and waste management.
* Contribute to a positive, cooperative team environment with open communication and respect.
* Deliver service excellence and contribute to customer satisfaction at every touchpoint.
About you
You're a compassionate, reliable team player with a commitment to providing excellent patient support and maintaining a safe, clean healthcare environment. You hold a current CPR certificate and ideally a Certificate III in Health Services Assistance (or equivalent).
* Experience in a similar healthcare or patient support role (desirable).
* Strong communication skills and respect for confidentiality.
* Ability to work both independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
* Understanding of (or willingness to learn) infection control, cleaning, and waste management practices.
* Confidence using digital systems and Microsoft applications.
