Our client is one of the largest and most highly regarded air conditioning companies in the ACT and surrounding NSW. They provide predominantly commercial HVAC systems and preventative maintenance solutions for office buildings, data centres, communications hubs, hotels, department stores and apartment buildings; as well as conversions to achieve high energy efficiency. They are a customer-focused company that takes pride in the quality of their service and exceeding the expectations of their loyal clients. Due to the continued growth of the company, a new position has become available for a high calibre Bookkeeper to join the team.
The position has responsibilities across a range of financial activities including accounts receivable, invoicing, payroll processing and administration, bank reconciliation, debt recovery, and accounts payable. The position supports the leadership team in managing the company's finance and accounting functions using XERO and is a permanent full-time role, however part time or flexible working arrangements may be considered.
**Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to**:
- Accounts receivable processing, ensuring invoices are generated, paid and reconciled in a timely manner
- Regular monitoring and follow up of outstanding debts
- Accounts payable processing; ensuring payable invoices are entered into XERO accurately and staff credit cards are reconciled
- Bank reconciliations
- Weekly payroll processing for 50 staff, including the management of wages, RDOs, leave and other entitlements
- Lodgement and reconciliation of superannuation, PAYG tax and payroll tax, and work cover
- Compiling financial statements and management reporting (profit and loss statements, balance sheets and cash-flow statements)
- Quarterly processing of long service leave
**The skills and experience we are seeking**:
Knowledge of tax and compliance matters (eg. income tax, GST, payroll tax and superannuation)
- An understanding of industry and state legislation
- Demonstrated capacity to deal effectively with management, internal staff and subcontractors
- High level of organisational skills and deadline management with a capacity to manage competing priorities and to work effectively within tight time frames
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills, including sensitivity, discretion and professionalism when dealing with confidential and commercial matters
- Demonstrated accuracy in processing financial information
- Qualifications in accounting or bookkeeping would be highly regarded
