Senior Project Engineer - ITS (Intelligent Transport Systems)
ConnectSydney, a joint venture of Service Stream, Boral, and Johnson Controls in partnership with Transport for NSW (TfNSW), manages the Harbour Zone and oversees maintenance, strategic enhancements, and specialised projects to strengthen Sydney’s transport infrastructure. The role is based in Rockdale, hybrid with occasional on‑site attendance.
Responsibilities
* Achieve delivery of ITS upgrade projects to completion, submitting all deliverables on time, within budget and to agreed quality standards.
* Prepare, update and implement the portfolio list of project works.
* Manage contractors and staff delivering projects.
* Generate deliverable/task lists for each project and align them to the baseline design schedule.
* Develop the delivery phase and interface activities.
* Interface with internal and external design teams for design requirements.
* Liaise with client, site and vendors; organise meetings as required.
* Facilitate cross‑discipline and external information flow.
* Diagnose design issues and resolve them through documentation or escalation to senior management.
* Participate in continuous improvement of processes, procedures, risk and systems.
* Monitor and address design changes and non‑conformances.
* Perform project management activities for maintenance/construction of road infrastructure, structural, corridor, tunnel and ITS projects.
* Attend on‑site verifications of contractors when necessary.
Qualifications
* Engineering degree (Civil, Electrical or Mechanical).
* Minimum of 5+ years’ experience delivering ITS/electrical and civil projects.
* Experience in structural/civil road work and concrete footings.
* Demonstrated understanding of planning and scheduling functions.
* Project management experience.
* Ability to work within or lead a team and meet strict deadlines.
* Familiarity with setting up project teams and site establishment for multidisciplinary projects.
