At National Parks and Wildlife Service, we are seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as a Field Officer. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a difference in the environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with a diverse range of activities related to maintenance and improvement of park assets within NPWS parks and reserves. They will work closely with senior field staff to ensure that tasks are completed safely and efficiently.
The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work well in a team environment. They must also possess current Australian Class C Driver's licence or equivalent and four-wheel driving certification.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist with routine maintenance, construction, and installation of new assets and conservation works.
* Operate and maintain plant and equipment, including conditionally registered vehicles, watercraft, lifting apparatus, and road maintenance plant.
* Participate in fire management activities and respond to visitor enquiries.
Requirements
* Current Australian Class C Drivers licence or equivalent and four-wheel driving certification.
* Demonstrated ability and experience to carry out all duties safely and ability to obtain relevant SafeWork NSW certification to appropriately operate and maintain a range of plant and equipment.
* Certification, or ability to obtain certification within the probationary period (up to 12 months) in operating a chainsaw to crosscut and basic tree felling standard; ability to operate two-way radio.
* Ability to carry out frontline firefighting duties and support roles including ability to obtain and maintain certification as a crew member or higher, within the probationary period (up to 12 months), and a willingness to fly in light aircraft.
