About the role This role offers the best of both worlds – a mix of workshop and on-site work. You’ll handle pre-delivery, servicing, repairs, and preventative maintenance on mobile plant such as compactors, shredders, and other equipment. Expect well-maintained machines, regular overtime with penalty rates, and plenty of variety to keep each day different. It’s a great opportunity to sharpen your skills while taking on new challenges. Duties Carry out servicing, repairs, diagnostics, and breakdown support on heavy plant and waste management equipment (compactors, shredders, loaders, and similar machinery). Perform field service work across landfill sites, recycling centres, and customer facilities (approx. 60% field, 40% workshop). Support refurbishments and overhauls to prepare machines for resale. Respond to breakdowns quickly and effectively, getting equipment back up and running with minimal downtime. Travel occasionally to customer sites across Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands (once or twice per month, usually 2–3 days at a time). Work flexibly across a variety of tasks – from machine repairs to workshop duties and yard work – as required in a small, collaborative team. Skills and experience Trade qualification – Certificate III in Plant Mechanics or Heavy Diesel (or equivalent). Dual trade qualifications will be highly regarded. Proven experience in field service, diagnostics, and repairs of heavy plant or similar machinery. Comfortable working in waste management environments such as landfills, recycling centres, and transfer stations. Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently in the field. Current driver’s licence (essential). Flexibility to travel regionally and, on occasion, overseas (short trips of 2–3 days). Full Australian working rights preferred – however, experienced 482 visa holders will be considered.
