Blackroc are seeking an Actuary for a 12-month contract with a Federal Government agency. This role is ideal for someone early in their actuarial career who wants hands-on experience across data, analytics, modelling and scheme performance. You will work as part of a collaborative team and may provide guidance to junior team members, while contributing to key analytical and reporting activities.
This position involves working with complex data, undertaking modelling tasks, and supporting statutory reporting requirements under Commonwealth legislation. You will regularly engage with internal stakeholders, providing clear advice and updates on analytical work and project progress.
Key Responsibilities
* Extract, cleanse and prepare data from multiple sources, including data warehouse environments, ensuring robust integrity checks.
* Update and enhance ongoing performance monitoring frameworks.
* Support statutory reporting requirements through data preparation, analysis and insight generation.
* Apply statistical and mathematical modelling techniques across actuarial monitoring, scheme analysis, cost benefit analysis and project work.
* Deliver ad hoc modelling, analysis and reporting requests.
* Communicate progress and outcomes effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Essential Criteria
* Tertiary qualification in actuarial studies, statistics, mathematics, econometrics, engineering, computer science or a related quantitative discipline.
* Progress towards (or completion of) Actuarial Part I education.
* Working towards Associate or Fellowship-level actuarial qualifications.
* Experience with SAS, SQL, R and/or Python.
* Understanding of statistical methods and analytical techniques.
