We're looking for a People & Culture Manager to help shape how a modern, AI‐native healthcare company builds, supports, and scales its team.
You'll work directly with the Founder to design and evolve Abby's people systems across the full employee lifecycle – from how we hire and onboard, to how we develop, engage, and retain high-performing teams.
This is a hands‐on role for someone who can translate people strategy into real, scalable systems – building the foundations of a high‐performance, values‐led culture while operating inside a fast-moving, technology‐driven environment. You'll bring structure to ambiguity, clarity to growth, and help define what great looks like as we scale.

AI and Digital at the Core
Abby is an AI‐native company, and that extends beyond our product into how we operate.
We expect our People & Culture function to be digitally forward and AI‐enabled, including:
* using AI tools to improve hiring, onboarding, and internal workflows
* designing scalable, automated people processes
* leveraging HRIS platforms (e.g. Rippling) as core infrastructure
* continuously improving how work gets done through technology
This is not a traditional HR role – it's about building a modern, tech‐enabled People function.
The Scope
You will lead and evolve People & Culture across the organization.
People Systems and Operations
* Build and manage end‐to‐end people operations across the employee lifecycle
* Design scalable onboarding, performance, and development frameworks
* Establish policies, systems, and processes that support rapid growth
* Ensure compliance with Australian employment standards
People Strategy and Organisational Design
* Partner with the Founder and leadership team to shape people strategy
* Support workforce planning and organisational design as we scale
* Align people initiatives to company performance and growth goals
Talent and Performance
* Support hiring managers to attract and retain top talent
* Build structured, high‐quality recruitment and onboarding processes
* Design and embed performance frameworks (goals, reviews, feedback)
* Identify capability gaps and drive learning & development initiatives
Employee Experience and Engagement
* Design engagement programs suited to a remote‐first workforce
* Run surveys, analyse insights, and drive action planning
* Build rituals and programs that strengthen culture and connection
Leadership and Capability
* Coach leaders to build strong people management capability
* Support difficult conversations, feedback, and team development
* Design and deliver training across leadership and performance
Culture and Change
* Shape and embed Abby's values and culture as we scale
* Support leaders through change in a fast‐evolving environment
* Build systems that reinforce accountability, ownership, and collaboration

Skills and Experience
Experience
* 5+ years in a broad HR / People & Culture role
* Experience in startups, scale‐ups, or fast‐paced environments
* Proven ability to build people systems from the ground up
* Experience supporting remote or distributed teams
Core Skill Sets
People & Culture Generalist
* Strong across the full employee lifecycle
* Comfortable operating both strategically and hands‐on
Systems Thinking
* Ability to design scalable processes, not just solve one‐off issues
* Thinks in frameworks, not just tasks
Digital & AI Fluency
* Comfortable using modern HRIS platforms (experience in Rippling is a plus!)
* Familiar with AI tools to improve workflows and productivity
Leadership & Coaching
* Experience coaching leaders and building capability
* Strong judgement in people and performance matters
Stakeholder Management
* Able to influence and partner with senior leaders
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
