BLACKROC is working with a highly reputable public sector organisation on the Gold Coast to find a Software Engineer Manager to lead a high-performing team through the delivery of critical, compliant, and modern web applications. This role plays a key part in scaling engineering and development practices aligned with industry standards and secure delivery principles.
Role Purpose
As a Software Engineer Manager, you’ll lead and mentor a diverse engineering team, ensure robust solution design, and take responsibility for delivering large-scale technical initiatives with a strong focus on secure, modern, and scalable development.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and mentor software engineers in a collaborative Agile environment
* Drive secure coding standards, DevOps pipelines, and CI/CD adoption
* Oversee end-to-end SDLC including risk mitigation, delivery, and compliance
* Work closely with cross-functional teams and align delivery with architectural standards
* Manage software quality, testing frameworks, and cloud cost efficiency
Key Skills and Experience
* Minimum 3 years in a software engineering leadership role
* 5+ years of development experience using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Next.js, SQL
* Experience delivering projects in high-compliance environments
* Strong understanding of DevOps, SDLC, Agile and modern delivery practices
* Excellent communication, risk management, and project leadership skills
