Position Information
Dubbo College Senior Campus delivers Stage 6 courses for the Higher School Certificate and is a part of Dubbo College. Dubbo College provides secondary education services to more than 1800 students. Student enrolment is currently 629. 30.5% of students identify as having an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) background. There are nine classes in the Support Unit. DCSC provides a broad range of curriculum offerings with evidence-based teaching strategies and high expectations for students to support them to develop capabilities as independent self-motivated learners. Curriculum at DCSC provides students with choice and access for the learning potential in all. Transition from school to employment or post-school education and training is a key focus in the curriculum.
Specific Selection Criteria
1. Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria: Approval to teach and/or experience teaching students with Special Education General.
2. Successful teaching experience and knowledge of policy and procedures, to lead teaching and learning to cater specifically for students with cognitive, physical, behavioural and sensory needs.
3. Curriculum and inclusive education knowledge to demonstrate capacity to lead the performance of Classroom Teachers and School Learning Support Officers to plan, implement and monitor procedures and systems of practice.
4. Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills to lead a team effectively with students, parents, staff, and outside agencies for inclusive education.
5. Ability to plan, implement and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning with relevance to specific plans required when working within an inclusive education setting.
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy and the Disability Standards to lead inclusive educational and wellbeing programs.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
