Primary objective
Provide a high level of administrative support to the teams based in Department of Children and Families to facilitate the delivery of Child
Protection programmes.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Work with other administrative support staff across the work unit to ensure compliance with a range of administrative procedures and
practice requirements.
1. Establish and maintain administrative control systems and maintain records.
2. Introduce new work procedures as required or instructed to maintained efficiencies within the branch.
3. Facilitate planned and unplanned travel for all Department Children and Families staff, clients and carers as required.
4. Monitor the flow of incoming and outgoing mail (electronic) and update information as required.
5. Process payments (operational payments, child-related payments, etc) in a timely manner, either via EFT or corporate credit card.
6. Prepare basic correspondence for the work unit with a high level of attention to detail.
7. Provide a professional reception service to the work unit.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. High level of motivation and ability to work independently at times with minimal supervision in an extremely busy environment.
2. Demonstrated understanding of issues relating to community services in particular child protection from a policy and operational
perspective.
3. High level of interpersonal skills and ability to professionally represent the work unit both externally and internally.
4. High level of oral and written communication skills, with the ability to relate to individuals and deliver services in a highly diverse
professional and cultural context.
5. Ability to develop a high level of trust and maintain confidentiality.
6. Sound organisational skills with the ability to manage both an individual workload and the requirements of the work unit.
7. Ability to work in a team and demonstrate sound judgement.
8. An ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultures.
Desirable
1. An understanding of Department of Children and Families operations, including corporate systems such as Content Manager (TRM)
and CARE.
2. Current NT driver's licence or ability to obtain.
