System Administrator / Network Engineer / IT Support Role Description
System Administrator Responsibilities
* System Management & Maintenance: Install, configure, and maintain servers and operating systems such as Windows and Linux.
* Manage virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper‐V) and ensure system availability.
* User & Access Administration: Manage user accounts, permissions, and group policies using Active Directory.
* Implement secure access controls including MFA and role‐based access.
* Backup & Disaster Recovery: Perform regular data backups and test recovery procedures.
* Support disaster recovery planning to ensure minimal downtime.
* Monitoring & Performance Optimization: Monitor system health, troubleshoot issues, and optimize performance.
* Apply updates, patches, and system improvements.
* Security Management: Maintain system security through patching, antivirus, and endpoint protection.
* Ensure compliance with security standards and policies.
Network Engineer Responsibilities
* Network Infrastructure: Design, configure, and maintain network systems including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
* Support LAN, WAN, and wireless networks.
* Network Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Monitor network performance and resolve connectivity, latency, or packet loss issues.
* Use tools like Wireshark or SolarWinds for diagnostics.
* Network Security: Implement firewalls, IDS/IPS, and segmentation to protect network resources.
* Ensure secure communication and access control.
* Upgrades & Optimization: Plan and implement network upgrades to improve performance and scalability.
* Maintain network documentation and diagrams.
IT Support Responsibilities
* Technical Support: Provide first and second‐level support for hardware, software, and network issues.
* Troubleshoot and resolve incidents in a timely manner.
* Device Setup & Maintenance: Install and configure desktops, laptops, printers, and enterprise applications.
* Support onboarding and offboarding of employees.
* Ticketing & Escalation: Manage support tickets using ITSM tools and elevate complex issues when needed.
* User Assistance & Training: Assist users with technical issues and provide guidance on best practices.
* Maintain documentation and knowledge base articles.
Qualifications
* Strong knowledge of operating systems (Windows, Linux).
* Understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN).
* Experience with Active Directory, virtualization, and basic cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
* Ability to troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues.
* Basic understanding of IT security principles.
* Familiarity with scripting (PowerShell, Bash) is a plus.
Desired Skills
* Experience with cloud infrastructure and hybrid environments.
