Located in the Northern Territory, this project aims to play a critical role in the global shift towards food security, related agriculture and industrial phosphate products through the production of DSO Phosphate Rock with first production in 2026.

Your new role
We are seeking a motivated, results-driven Senior Mining Engineer / Mining Engineer to deliver mine planning, design, and operational optimisation across mining operations. A key focus is involvement in pre-operations and start-up phases, supporting establishment, ramp-up, and ongoing growth.
This role offers broad exposure to end-to-end planning and operations, working closely in a small technical team to shape strategies, systems, and processes from first principles. It provides strong professional development and the chance to progress to senior level through hands-on planning, operational support, and continuous improvement.
This is a full-time permanent position on an 8/6 FIFO roster, preferably from Darwin, Cairns, Townsville, or Brisbane, or an 8/6 BIBO roster from Tennant Creek or Mount Isa.
Your key responsibilities will be:
* Provide key input for the setup of technical mining engineering systems and processes including for efficient periodic reporting.
* Develop and maintain medium and long-term mine plans in alignment with production targets and business objectives.
* Design and optimise pit layouts, haulage systems, and production schedules.
* Conduct technical evaluations, trade-off studies, and risk assessments for mining projects, and prepare technical reporting.
* Collaborate with geology, survey, maintenance, and operations teams to ensure integrated planning and execution.
* Monitor and analyse operational performance data to identify improvement opportunities.
* Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and life-of-mine planning processes.
* Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards in all engineering activities.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role you will have:
* Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related field.
* Experience in mine design and planning support for operations in open-pit mining environment, familiarity with stratified orebodies and strip-mining techniques is advantageous.
* Demonstrated, hands-on proficiency with an eye for detail in at least one industry-standard mine design software (e.g., Deswik, Micromine, Datamine)
* Demonstrated experience or developing capability in mine scheduling, including exposure to mid-term and life-of-mine (LOM) planning and budget processes, with practical experience or familiarity with scheduling software (e.g., MineSched, SPRY, ALASTRI, Deswik).
* Demonstrated practical experience in Drill & Blast design and execution within an open-pit operation.
* Willingness to learn and contribute to grade control processes including blasthole sampling.
* Clear, timely communication skills and the ability to respond effectively and be adaptable in a fast-moving operational environment.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
