Essential to our service is the Court Support Officer role. Across Queensland we have around 50 Court Support Officers including our amazing Field Officers (remote locations) who are the crucial link between our clients and Legal Practitioners.
Join our Strathpine Team:
* Aid clients prepare for Court (Criminal Law support);
* Help with paperwork, legal forms, court documents, data entry;
* Communicate between our Legal Practitioners and our clients;
* Drive our car, sometimes outside Brisbane to communities to assist our Legal Practitioners and clients;
* Contribute to our 24/7 after-hours on-call service by roster (which is why you're paid well above the Award; primarily phone services);

* You need to be a steady driver, and you need to be reliable and resilient. Computer skills are essential.
* We offer a strong opportunity to make a difference for our people entering the criminal justice system. You do not need to be studying law or justice to do a great job here with us.
You are required to have a current Queensland Government Blue Card and a National Police Criminal Record check prior to commencing work with our people or accessing any client file, database record or attending Court.

Your application will include the following questions:
* What is your understanding of ATSILS Vision and Values.
* Identified Position: Be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person who both identifies and is recognised as such within the community from which he or she originates or currently resides. (Proof of Aboriginality may be required.)
* Core knowledge: demonstrated knowledge of the Justice System.
* Client service and data management.
* Confidence in and knowledge of legislation.
* Mobility, access and safety: a current Queensland Driver Licence and ability to drive in all reasonable conditions including at night.
* Current First Aid Certificate, Workplace Health and Safety Representative training or Emergency Services qualifications.
* Database entry and reporting skills highly regarded.
* Qualifications in Legal Studies, Law, Social Sciences, Justice, Advocacy, Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community Development, or current enrolment in any of these tertiary courses.
* Experience in an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander service.
