Principal Structural Engineer
KBR are the Principal Design partner on the North Western Program Alliance (NWPA). The Alliance comprises of Level Crossing Removal Project (LXRP), Metro Trains Melbourne, KBR, and John Holland.
NWPA was established in 2017 and has delivered on approximately $3B of transport infrastructure projects for The State and community. Based on our success, LXRP have recently awarded NWPA a 5-year extension to our partnership providing us a strong, clear pipeline of transport opportunities through Melbourne till 2027.
With the significant demand present within the Victoria transport sector, a move to KBR to work on NWPA is an exciting step in your career. You’ll be working on community shaping projects such as the Pakenham & Keon level crossing removal with some other diverse opportunities currently being developed and committed to NWPA.

The Opportunity
As part of the North Western Program Alliance we are looking for enthusiastic and delivery focused individuals to help deliver the project and keep Victoria moving. During this exciting growth period we have an opportunity for a Principal Structural Engineer to join our team. Our work on the alliance shows a visionary approach to re-thinking the design of heavy rail infrastructure
Whilst this position will initially join the NWPA, this is a permanent role with KBR which opens a door to working on other iconic infrastructure projects nationally.
Responsibilities:
Your responsibilities will be included but are not limited to:
6. Plan, schedule and execute structural engineering design through evaluating and adapting engineering techniques, procedures and standards
7. Manage complex features including conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials and difficult coordination assignments
8. Consider all commercial, cost, legal and safety requirements in design specifications
9. Guidance and mentorship of junior engineers, designers and drafters
What you will need to succeed
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in structural engineering with experience in infrastructure projects working and ideally within a multi-disciplinary environment along with the following:

13. A demonstrated appreciation for Engineering solutions
14. A background in project coordination and stakeholder engagement
