Job Summary
This role involves leading the payroll function for a growing, medium-sized professional services business in Melbourne. The ideal candidate will have proven leadership experience and strong skills in Australian payroll legislation, tax regulations, and awards.
Key Responsibilities:
* Leading a small payroll team in Australia
* Managing end-to-end payroll processes with accuracy and efficiency
* Overseeing different pay cycles for up to 1,200 employees
* Driving process improvements and implementing best practices
* Working under the Banking, Finance & Insurance Award
* Reconciling payroll accounts and preparing reports as required
* Ensuring compliance with all relevant payroll legislation and regulations
* Partnering with internal and external stakeholders to enhance payroll operations
* Utilising and optimising payroll systems, preferably iChris or SAP

* Strong leadership and stakeholder management abilities
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
* Ability to interpret awards with precision
* Comprehensive knowledge of Australian payroll legislation and tax regulations
* Strong analytical skills with a proactive and solutions-focused mindset
* A passion for mentoring and developing staff to enhance performance and engagement
* Prior experience working with iChris payroll system is highly desirable
