Discover Life in Mount Isa
Looking for a career that takes you beyond the ordinary?
Mount Isa offers a uniquely rewarding lifestyle in the heart of North West Queensland - where rugged outback landscapes meet a close-knit, welcoming community. With modern amenities, cultural diversity, and adventure on your doorstep, it's the perfect place to build your career while embracing a slower, more meaningful pace of life.
Two Meaningful Roles, One Purpose-Driven Team
Centacare North Queensland is currently recruiting two full-time Coordinators, based in Mount Isa, to lead distinct but closely aligned homelessness support programs. The Coordinator - Crisis Intervention role focuses on supporting individuals experiencing acute homelessness through emergency accommodation and intensive casework. The Coordinator - Homestay & Immediate Housing Response role delivers early intervention support, helping individuals and families transition out of unsafe or unstable housing situations and sustain long-term tenancies. While these are separate positions, they share a common purpose: to reduce housing instability and support client wellbeing through culturally safe, trauma-informed practice. Candidates may apply for one or both roles, depending on their background and interest.
Working under the guidance of the Remote Operations Manager, you'll manage a team of Case Workers and Youth/Associate Workers.
Your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
* Coordinating service delivery and case management to meet program outcomes
* Leading rosters, team planning, and operational performance
* Supporting compliance with funding agreements, safety, and quality standards
* Providing mentoring, onboarding, and ongoing support to staff
* Managing risk, program data, reporting, and stakeholder engagement
* Representing Centacare within the local community
* Being hands-on in service delivery where required
What You'll Bring to the Table
To be successful in either role, you'll need:
* A Degree in Social Work, Human Services or Behavioural Sciences 'OR' A Cert IV in Community Services with a minimum of 2 years' relevant experience
* Experience in case management, housing support, or community coordination
* Strong leadership skills - able to support, guide, and develop frontline staff
* Cultural competency, especially in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
* Effective communication, systems use, and risk management capabilities
You'll thrive in this environment if you also bring:
* Experience in homelessness services, early intervention, or remote delivery
* Familiarity with SCHADS Award, Queensland housing frameworks, and rural practice
* Group facilitation and trauma-informed care knowledge
* A relational leadership style with the ability to lead from the front
* Resilience and adaptability in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
You're a calm, compassionate leader who genuinely believes in the right to safe housing. You're ready to make an immediate and lasting difference - not from behind a desk, but by being present and proactive on the ground.
