Offer description

* Providingadvice and professional learning to others, including teachers and otherschool wellbeing staff, to build the capacity of schools to improvestudents wellbeing, learning and developmental outcomes.
* Deliveringprofessional support services in a school, including mental healthprevention and promotion activities and early intervention activities(including short-term counselling) for students with a range of mentalhealth needs, applying sound theoretical knowledge and practicalexpertise.
* Planningand implementing evidence-based intervention strategies for students withcomplex needs including collaborating with families, other professionalsand agencies when appropriate to effectively manage risk.
* Workingcollaboratively with the school to enhance mental health prevention andpromotion across the school by contributing to policies and operationalpractices that will guide the work of others, including other schoolwellbeing staff and teachers.
* Liaisingwith other department areas (including secondary school nurses and StudentSupport Services staff) and external service providers where necessary toprovide appropriate support to students.
* Maintainingprofessional competence and continued professional development, includingattending professional development activities throughout the year.
* Meetingrelevant policies and legislative requirements in relation to studenthealth information, privacy and consent.

Please note:Continued professional developmentis a registration requirement under the National Law, which governs theoperations of the National Boards and Australian Health Practitioner RegulationAgency (AHPRA).

Please address selection criteria below:

* Abilityto implement a range of small group and whole-school mental healthprevention and promotion activities aimed at improving student mentalhealth and wellbeing, including the delivery of capability building andawareness raising activities for staff and/or students on key mentalhealth and wellbeing issues affecting the school's student population.
* Demonstratedability to input into the development, implementation and evaluation ofprocesses and strategies aimed at enhancing mental health and wellbeingprevention, promotion and early intervention.
* Demonstratedexperience in assessing, conceptualising and analysing wellbeing issues,and providing evidence-based direct counselling support to clients with arange of mental health needs.
* Demonstratedexperience in coordinating supports for young people with complex needsincluding referrals to a range of specialist services as appropriate.
* Highlydeveloped communication, networking and interpersonal skills including theability to liaise effectively with a wide range of people.
* Clearunderstanding of legislative requirements regarding privacy of healthinformation.
