Senior Engagement Officer, West and South
Employment Type : Ongoing & Non-ongoing (for an initial period of up to 12 months). This role is being advertised as both ongoing and non-ongoing, with the employment type to be determined in negotiation with the preferred candidate and the NIAA delegate. Where a non-ongoing specified term is offered, this would be for an initial period of up to 12 months, with the possibility of extension up to a maximum period of two years. A non-ongoing offer may result in conversion to an ongoing offer of employment; however, this must occur within 18 months from the opening date of this advertisement.

The Opportunity
We are looking for motivated and passionate individuals to fill APS 6 level Senior Engagement Officer roles in the Victoria and Tasmania Regional Office. Roles are available in Hobart and Melbourne, respectively. We offer challenging, interesting, and stimulating work, connecting across all levels of government and working directly with First Nations communities and organisations.
In these roles, you will work in diverse teams in Tasmania and Victoria to drive the self-determination aspirations of First Nations communities, supporting the delivery of the Australian Government’s priorities, including implementing the National Agreement on Closing the Gap.
Key Responsibilities
* Engage with First Nations communities and organisations to support self-determination initiatives.
* Contribute to the delivery of government priorities related to Indigenous affairs.
* Collaborate with various stakeholders across government and community sectors.

To succeed, candidates will:
* Have a current motor vehicle driver’s license and be able to travel locally and interstate.
* Possess high cultural competency, with direct engagement experience with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities, and service providers.
Eligibility : Must be an Australian Citizen. Successful candidates will undergo pre-employment screening, including an Australian Criminal History Check.
