The Opportunity
We're looking for an outstanding Financial Controller to take ownership of the financial health of this growing business. This role is critical to ensuring accurate financial management, strong governance, and providing strategic insights that drive decision-making and sustainable growth.
You'll be responsible for overseeing all financial operations, from monthly reporting and compliance to budgeting, forecasting, and systems optimisation. Your role is to ensure financial integrity, strengthen internal controls, and provide trusted financial advice to senior leadership.
This goes beyond traditional accounting; you'll be a strategic partner who ensures the business has the financial rigour and insights needed to support its ambitious growth trajectory.
What You'll Be
Doing Financial Management & Reporting
* Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
* Ensure accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting
* Manage general ledger, balance sheet reconciliations, and cash flow forecasting
* Prepare management reports, board packs, and financial analysis
Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis
* Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process
* Monitor financial performance against budgets and forecasts, identifying risks and opportunities
* Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior leadership
* Support business planning and strategic initiatives with financial modelling
Compliance, Governance & Risk
* Ensure compliance with Australian Accounting Standards, taxation requirements, and statutory obligations
* Oversee BAS, GST, PAYG, payroll tax, and other regulatory filings
* Manage external audits and act as the primary liaison with auditors and advisors
* Maintain and strengthen internal controls and financial governance frameworks
Payroll & Systems Oversight
* Oversee payroll processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant legislation
* Manage and optimise financial systems and processes, identifying opportunities for automation and efficiency
* Ensure data integrity across finance platforms and reporting tools
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
* Act as a key financial advisor to executives and department heads
* Lead and develop the finance team, providing coaching and performance feedback
* Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners
What We're Looking For
Essential
* Proven experience in a Financial Controller or senior finance role
* Strong knowledge of Australian accounting standards, taxation, and compliance requirements
* Demonstrated experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
* High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders
* Experience leading and developing finance teams
* Strong systems mindset with experience optimising financial processes
Highly Desirable
* CA/CPA qualification
* Experience in a manufacturing, retail, or product-based business
* Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills
* Experience implementing or optimising ERP systems
* Previous experience in a high-growth, entrepreneurial environment
