Unite Resourcing is a Western Australian labour-hire and mining services business supplying a high-volume workforce to major resource and infrastructure projects Australia wide.
We are seeking an Assistant Finance Manager to work directly with the CFO and take day-to-day ownership of the finance function. This is a high-autonomy role with clear scope to progress quickly into a Finance Manager position for the right candidate.
This role suits a capable, commercially minded accountant who is comfortable making decisions, improving controls, and running a finance function in a fast-moving labour-hire environment.
The Role Reporting directly to the CFO, you will have responsibility for the core operational finance function, including:
* Ownership of month-end close, management accounts, and balance sheet integrity
* Preparation and review of monthly management reporting and financial analysis
* End-to-end oversight of high-volume labour-hire payroll, including awards, allowances, and on-costs
* Maintenance and strengthening of financial controls across payroll, AP, AR, and banking
* Statutory compliance including PAYG, BAS, Payroll Tax, Superannuation, WorkCover, and related reporting
* Review of journals, accruals, provisions, and reconciliations
* Cash-flow forecasting, working capital management, and banking support
* Budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
* Liaison with external accountants, auditors, insurers, and advisors
* Identification and implementation of process and system improvements
* Acting as the day-to-day finance lead in the CFO's absence
About You
* Degree qualified in Accounting or Finance (CA / CPA qualified or near completion)
* 5+ years' experience in accounting or commercial finance roles
* Strong experience in labour-hire, mining services, construction, or contractor-based businesses
* Deep understanding of payroll-driven businesses and associated compliance obligations
* Comfortable working autonomously and taking accountability for outcomes
* Strong Excel capability and experience with cloud accounting systems (Xero highly regarded)
* Commercially minded, detail-driven, and confident dealing with senior stakeholders
* Motivated by progression and ready to step into a Finance Manager role
