SA Waters Engineering Studies team is seeking a Hydraulic Engineering Specialist; you'll be the go-to expert for all things water and wastewater infrastructure. Your work will shape the systems that keep communities running smoothly and sustainably.
About the Person
You're a problem-solver with a passion for water infrastructure and a knack for technical excellence. You would bring expertise in Hydraulic Engineering with a strong understanding of water and wastewater systems. The successful candidate should also have chartership with Engineers Australia or the ability to obtain by 30

of June 2026.
Additional responsibilities include:
* Drive a culture of safety by applying WHS responsibilities, promoting Safety in Design (SiD), and ensuring health and safety risks are eliminated or minimized throughout the asset lifecycle.
* Provide Hydraulic Engineering Expertise to Deliver technical support across hydraulic engineering matters, including design reviews, investigations, and integration of SiD principles into all engineering activities.
* Deliver Outstanding Customer Service by providing timely, accurate technical advice and documentation, liaise with contractors and stakeholders, and ensure cost-effective, fit-for-purpose solutions.
* Collaborate and Build Strong Partnerships to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams, engage with internal and external stakeholders, and contribute to achieving business and project objectives.
* Ensure Technical Governance and Compliance to support the development and review of technical standards and guidelines, ensuring compliance and fostering understanding of SA Water's technical requirements.
* Drive Innovation and Continuous Improvement to Identify and assess emerging technologies, adopt industry best practices, and contribute to improving hydraulic engineering standards and processes.
Skills and experience
* Tertiary Qualification in Civil or Hydraulic Engineering Postgraduate qualifications.
* Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) accreditation with Engineers Australia.
* Proficiency in Hydraulic Modelling using WaterGEMS and Bentley Hammer.
* Comprehensive Knowledge of hydraulic engineering procedures and practices within the water industry and large engineering organizations.
* Extensive Design Experience in investigation, option analysis, concept and detailed design of hydraulic infrastructure, including auditing designs prepared by others
* Proven Capability in executing complex engineering investigations and developing/reviewing technical and infrastructure standards.
